INTEGRATIVE STUDIO III
A Team of Student Artists

ALEX BARAZANI
Junior
I am a student at Montclair State University majoring in art education. I am strongly influenced by politics and current world events, and my art is often a reaction to that. Politics is the expression of humans' inherent desire for control. It demands a hierarchical structure and top-down governance. I like to explore tearing down that hierarchy and the revolution that could bring when everyone shares power equally.

Anthony Vergara: Image your dreams and what you want to accomplish, now imagine that in a story or a picture. Imagine showing your dreams on a canvas, that’s the artist I am. An artist who illustrates my ideas and makes them come to life. Being a designer and a person who creates art digitally is the person I am, now see my vision engulf your world.

I am studying Visual Arts and hope to hone my skills in order to do something influential with them. Some big inspirations for me are mental health and the LGBT community. This piece that I have made for this exhibition focuses on Stigma against the LGBT community. This piece was a way for me to explore the words used against the LGBT community and come to terms with their inability to affect my life the way they are meant to. I hope you enjoy the exhibition and everyone’s art!

I am a visual artist who works with alternative photographic processes and techniques. I have become increasingly interested in analog processes and the image as a physical object. My work explores themes such as ephemera, memory, communication, corporeality, and identity; it aims to make tactile and permanent, that which can only be felt or understood. Inspired by art movements such as Post-Minimalism and Dada, I construct pieces that involve repetition, fragmentation, and layering of forms and concepts. I draw inspiration from artists such as Eva Hesse, Ellen Gallagher, and El Anatsui. Often using photography as a base, I fuse my understanding of organic and inorganic subjects and processes to create whimsical artwork with a slightly dark edge.

KEANU LEE

My name is Keanu Lee. I am a Digital artist attending Montclair State University working towards my Bachelor of Visual Arts. The inspiration for my works of art is related to digital art and pop art. My exhibition pieces are a series that focuses on the noir detective as each image aligns together into a narrative. The images consist of a detective, a crime, the inside of a building that has been raided, and a police lineup.

I’m studying to hopefully become a high school art teacher. Recently, much of the art I create has been influenced by mental health, and the piece I made for this exhibition was a way for me to do some self-reflection and explore what I’ve been experiencing throughout my life. Mostly focusing on the depression and anxiety that’s been taking over my day-to-day living, I wanted to create an expressive portrait piece that shows what it feels like to be plagued by these psychological illnesses. The piece shows the metaphorical and and literal feeling of entrapment. And the deadpan expression is a reflection of the incredible amount of emotions being felt constantly, while still being forced to live life in a “normal” way.

This composition for the exhibition focuses on ethnicity, I recently received my ethnicity estimate and it inspired me to create this piece of national flowers of the different nationalities I belong to.
